Are you completely unfamiliar with how plumbing works? If so, you might be concerned about getting caught off guard when things go wrong. The way many Monmouth County homeowners deal with this is by familiarizing themselves with some of the most common plumbing problems in our area.
Washing Machine Hose
One of the most costly plumbing mishaps that can occur in your home are related to your washing machine. When you wash your clothes, there are two rubber hoses that transport hot and cold water to the machine. Over time, these hoses may become worn and flimsy.
If you don’t do your due diligence when it comes to your washing machine hoses, you could end up with a flood. The damage this can cause might cost you quite a bit of money. Here’s the good news — this scenario is easy to avoid. All you need to do is make sure you replace your hoses on a regular basis. A good rule of thumb is to make sure this is done at least every four years.
Pipes are a major component of your plumbing system. They carry water in and out of your home. Typically, water traveling through your pipes will contain minerals and dirt. Over time, mineral deposits can accumulate inside your pipes. When this occurs, the amount of water that can flow through them decreases.
If this happens, you’ll either need to flush your pipes, or replace them altogether. This is a great time to call a plumber. Luckily, you can prevent sediment buildup by using a water softener system. If you’re in an area with hard water, using a softener can reduce mineral buildup in your pipes.
These two issues are some of the most common plumbing problems that can occur in your home. If you want more information on preventing nasty plumbing issues in your home, contact Aggressive Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
